Founded in 1940, Newberry Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NEC) is a member-owned, not-for-profit rural electric cooperative dedicated to serving communities across Fairfield, Laurens, Lexington and Newberry Counties in South Carolina.
As a cooperative, our mission is to provide reliable and affordable electric service to our residential, commercial, and industrial members. We are guided by a Board of Directors—fellow members elected by you—ensuring that our operations remain transparent, responsive and accountable to the communities we serve.
NEC continues to shape the future of rural South Carolina by fueling economic growth and expanding broadband access to ensure that no community is left behind in a rapidly changing world.
Today, NEC proudly serves 9,923 members across more than 1,629 miles of electric lines within our service area.
