The secretary reported that the following Board Members were present:

C.J. Bishop                  Melanie Hawkins        William Lominick

Johnnie Dickert           Douglas Hipp              John Nichols

Attorney Tiencken explained how power lines must but be in compliance with the National Electric Safety Codes. If power lines are already set in place, and a consumer wants them moved or raised, it will be the consumer’s responsibility to pay that cost.

Attorney Koon explained that if power lines are moved or raised at the consumer’s request, the cost can be added to the consumer’s bill as a contribution in aid fee over a set number of months.

Ms. Dantzler answered questions from the board along with Attorneys Pope, Koon, and Tiencken about the safety of the power line heights according to the National Electric Safety Codes.

After much discussion, Trustee Nichols made a motion to have Attorney Pope draft a letter to explain the process and expense of raising and or relocating power lines at a consumer’s request, and the reasons why Newberry Electric Cooperative, Inc. cannot absorb the cost for a few consumers.  The motion was seconded by Trustee Lominick, and the board passed the motion unanimously.

There being no further business and without objections, Chairman Johnnie L. Dickert adjourned the February 2022 Special Board Meeting at 3:45 p.m.
