Thank you for participating in Newberry Electric Cooperative’s social media communities. The organization has established these Social Media Community Standards to govern your posts.

Newberry Electric Cooperative’s official social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram) are administered and moderated by NEC. The administrators of any and all NEC accounts reserve the right to delete comments, replies or other content and interactions that they deem to be in violation of NEC’s Social Media Community Standards or in violation of the social media platforms’ community standards listed below. The administrators may also take action to report, block or ban users from social media platforms for violations.

Social media submissions that will be removed and reported may include, but are not limited to:

•          Harassing, intimidating or threatening comments to another person

•          Comments that incite violence or other action in violation of any federal or state anti-discrimination laws

•          Sexually explicit and sexually vulgar language and profanity

•          Comments that promote illegal activity

•          Solicitations or promotions of products or services of any third party, unless approved in advance by NEC

•          Comments that include false or defamatory information

•          Posts that misrepresent or hide the poster’s identity

•          Comments that violate privacy or confidentiality

•          Comments unrelated to the topic or to the NEC community

•          Repetitive comments and spam posts

All links posted as comments on the NEC’s page or posts will be reviewed and may be subject to deletion.

NEC reserves the right to block/ban those who post comments that violate our community guidelines.

Some social media platforms limit the ability to hide comments. If so, NEC will still make sure the comment in question is reported or deleted.

NEC understands that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, our moderation capabilities are not. We may not see every inappropriate comment right away; and we trust members of our community to be polite and refrain from personal attacks and negative speech.

Disabling Comments:

Any of the following circumstances may result in disabling the ability for users to comment on the NEC social platforms:

•          When NEC moderation capabilities become too limited to monitor comments.

•          When there is a constant and/or overwhelming number of comments that violate the Community Guidelines for NEC social media.

After a certain period, NEC may consider re-enabling the ability for users to comment on NEC social platforms.

Additional Community Standards for each social media platform are found here:
